Felicia Cavitt
Hello. My name is Felicia Cavitt. I am currently a graduate student at Abilene Christian University studying Marriage and Family Therapy. What drew me into counseling was my passion for helping others. My goal has always been to leave the world in a better place than we left it, and what that looks like in counseling is listening to each individual story and helping one person construct the best life they desire for themselves by empowering them one session at a time to strive for the better they want to see in themselves.
I originally began my journey in Early Childhood Education and working with families through ministries in the church. I also worked for a brief time as a Teacher's Aide in Dallas Independent School District. I still feel connected to my original ministry by impacting families to strike a powerful chord in the world by working through their problem-saturated stories and encouraging them to re-author their own lives through deep introspection in each session.
My passion has shown me that when one person faces their greatest difficulties, they often do not struggle alone. My studies in Marriage and Family Counseling have prepared me to embark upon the discovery of asking curious questions aimed at navigating through client’s unique stories of who they are and how the problem they feel they are facing has shaped their life story.
Advocating for families along these lines provides me with the perspective that all people are deserving of care and when we work together, we can hone our inner strength to listen and find solutions to our problems. Narrative Therapy allows me to listen to the clients by gaining clarity of their stories and find their goals for a better future. My goal is to create a safe place where clients are supported along their journey and find the best solutions to their problems in a non-judgmental way.
I'm invested in ensuring that clients not only feel supported but walk away with learned knowledge that can be implemented in other parts of their family system. This can ensure that the work touches one family at a time; one household at a time.
